Free Electricity

Update : 22.04.14 – While we are still pleased to be installing the Evance R9000 for customers, at this time we are unable to offer the hosted turbine option as the reduction in the feed-in-tariff rate has led to a lack of investors in this project.

Update : 2.11.12 – We are pleased to announce we now have investors looking to proceed post December. Please get in touch if you are interested in hosting a turbine to see if your site is suitable.

Lease your land, have a free turbine installed and receive free electricity!

Orkney Micro Renewables, in association with Evance, has partnered with a variety of investors in renewable energy, to offer free electricity to landowners in Orkney. Under this finance package, an R9000 wind turbine is installed free of charge in exchange for a 25 year lease. In return the landowner can use as much of the generated electricity as required, free of charge, and the investor receive the income generated from the Feed-in Tariffs.

To benefit from this free electricity the proposed location for a turbine needs to
be suitable, that is, open and with an average annual wind speed of greater
than 6.5 m/s
. Once a site is accepted the process is hassle free for the landowner
as a site survey, planning applications and installation are all managed by Orkney Micro Renewables. Since the investor retain ownership of the equipment they cover
the costs of maintenance and insurance.

With this package landowners in Orkney get free electricity, the investor receive
a return on their investment and we all benefit from reduced CO2 emissions.
