We are pleased to announce that Ronie Walters, financial director for Orkney Micro Renewables, has just been named the Institute of Directors’ Third Sector Director of the Year. Ronie has been recognised for her role in turning our £15,000 startup investment into a community business with a £1.7 million turnover in just two years. Thanks for all your hard work Ronie! In December 2013 Orkney Micro Renewables were the recipients of the SURF Award for Infrastructure and Social Benefit. It was really special to be recognised for the work we have been doing in community development and renewable infrastructure.
The national SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration are held each year and aim to:
- To recognise and reward best practice and innovation in community regeneration;
- To promote and disseminate best practice across Scotland as means of sharing knowledge and experience, and thereby enhancing future policy and practice;
- To highlight the role that regeneration projects have in improving the wellbeing of individuals and communities.
